Quickly upgrade the training of web professionals and digital infrastructure managers in the face of the explosion in the number of cyberattacks: this is the objective of the new chair on cyber-resilience launched in September 2021 by Bordeaux INP, the University of Bordeaux, the Bordeaux University Foundation and five cybersecurity companies.
The fight is fundamentally unequal: the red team is in charge of infecting the system by needing only one human or technical flaw to get in; the blue team must defend it by attempting to secure multiple potential vulnerabilities, including those of which they are not even aware. These cyber-clashes can last from a few hours to a few days depending on the size and complexity of the organization simulated within the “cyber range”.
This offensive as well as defensive training tool is one of the modules offered by the new chair of cyber-resilience launched a few days ago by the Enseirb-Matmeca of Bordeaux INP, the University of Bordeaux and the Bordeaux University Foundation. Led by Toufik Ahmed, university professor at Enseirb-Matmeca, it can count on the financial and logistical support of five cybersecurity players: Advens Cybersecurity, Beware Cyberlabs, which provides the cyber range, Synacktiv, the Bordeaux nugget Tehtris, and Catie (New Aquitaine digital technology center *). These five patrons finance the device to the tune of 100,000 euros each over five years, but the chair is open to other companies that would like to join it.
